2025 marks a significant milestone for EuCIA as we celebrate 65 years of supporting the composites industry in Europe*. We celebrated this landmark with a special networking event in Brussels on the evening of 4th December, immediately following the inaugural General Assembly of the European Circular Composites Alliance (ECCA), our latest initiative.
For more than six decades our association has played a pivotal role as a leading voice in our industry, working to build a sustainable future for composites in Europe. This anniversary is not only a celebration of our rich history but also a tribute to all the individuals and organisations who have contributed to making EuCIA what it is today. We were honoured to welcome many of our members, partners and friends to the party to celebrate our shared achievements together and look forward to the next chapters in EuCIA’s story.
The evening also provided an opportunity to thank Mr Jan Verhaeghe, who has decided to retire as Vice-President of EuCIA after many years of active commitment. The tribute was marked by a special speech featuring humorous anecdotes shared by Board member Eric Moussiaux.

During EuCIA’s General Assembly the following day, Professor Roberto Frassine was re-elected as President, and Mr Joan Montobbio was elected Vice-President, both unanimously approved by the participants.
EuCIA General Assembly highlights
EuCIA’s General Assembly on 5th December provided a valuable opportunity to review our activities over the past year, as well as discuss ongoing strategies and future actions.
We were also delighted to welcome the new members joining EuCIA this year: Carbon Fiber Europe, the European Rebar Council, and the Austrian Interessensgruppe verstärkter Kunststoffe (IVK). Their addition strengthens our community and further supports our commitment to advancing the sustainability and circularity of the composites industry throughout Europe.
*The origins of EuCIA go back to November 1960, when the Groupement européen des Plastiques Renforcés – Matériaux Composites (European Organisation of Reinforced Plastic Associations – Composite Materials), or GPRMC, was founded. In 2003, to facilitate work at the European level, it was decided to transform the organisation into an international non-profit association and EuCIA was officially launched as a new legal entity in 2004.
