The 2025 edition of the JEC Composites Sustainability Report will be published in October.

For this year’s publication, EuCIA has again collaborated with JEC Group to showcase the latest advances in sustainability and circularity of composite materials. EuCIA members have contributed several articles highlighting developments in their regions and projects involving their members.

What’s new

In this year’s report, EuCIA sets the scene with a discussion about the challenge of circularity in an article introducing the new European Circular Composites Alliance (ECCA).

“The composites industry is already supporting the sustainable growth and decarbonisation of Europe’s industries, but there is a need to demonstrate that composite materials can contribute to these objectives within the circular economy,” says EuCIA’s president Professor Roberto Frassine. “However, to achieve composites circularity some issues need to be addressed, including policy barriers, lack of standardisation of recycled materials, and low demand from the market.”

There are also three exclusive interviews.

  • Europe’s circular future – Laure Baillargeon, policy officer at the European Commission;
  • Bridging the gap between ecology and economy – Bertrand Piccard, Founder and Chairman, Solar Impulse Foundation;
  • Sustainable construction: the marriage of concrete and composites – Professor Antonio Nanni, University of Miami.

The findings of JEC’s Sustainability Survey, conducted during the first half of 2025, are also presented. These provide an insight into the composites industry’s current views on sustainability as well as its efforts to improve its environmental performance.
