Composites UK hosted its second Parliamentary Reception on 20th May. This event at the House of Commons in Westminster, London, strengthened the message to all political parties that composites are critical to delivery of the UK’s net-zero targets.

The reception featured presentations from Composites UK CEO Dr David Bailey and board director Jen Hill, Sarah Jones MP (Shadow Minister for Industry and Trade), and The Rt Hon Margaret Beckett GBE MP.

EuCIA’s president, Professor Roberto Frassine, attended the event, which enabled Composites UK member companies to interact with politicians and emphasise the composites industry’s role in helping key industries – aerospace, automotive, defence, energy, and infrastructure – decarbonise, remain globally competitive, and create thousands of new skilled jobs.

EuCIA member Composites UK represents the composites industry in the UK, which is responsible for more than 48,200 jobs and a turnover of over £12.30 billion. The association acts to encourage continuous growth and sustainable development of the industry, promoting the best practice use of composites materials. Its role is to bring companies throughout the supply chain together creating partnerships, as well as creating a unified voice to drive the industry forward, benefiting all of those involved.
