News, ECCA|

We’re excited to share the results of a satisfaction survey conducted following the first General Assembly of the European Circular Composites Alliance (ECCA) in December. These confirm that industry stakeholders see the alliance as the correct approach to drive the composites industry’s transition to a circular economy.

The survey of General Assembly participants revealed:

  • 95% are confident that the ECCA is the right platform to advance composites circularity in Europe.
  • 91% are satisfied with the General Assembly’s content and discussions.

Composite materials are essential for Europe’s green transition, but we lacked a coordinated roadmap to make them circular, competitive, and compliant with evolving EU policies. The ECCA, a sectorial alliance of EuCIA, was established as a unified platform for composites circularity, bringing together all stakeholders to drive collective action and speak with one voice to the external world.

Europe’s transition to a circular economy

Speaking at the General Assembly in Brussels on 4th December, European Commission representative Stefano Soro, Head of Unit, Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), emphasised the importance of circularity for Europe’s future.

“Circularity remains a core pillar of the Clean Industrial Deal – President von der Leyen has been very clear on this. It is both a foundation of sustainability and a way to manage Europe’s strategic dependencies. The upcoming Circular Economy Act in 2026 will reinforce this direction. For Europe to strengthen its industrial autonomy, safeguard high-value jobs, and reduce external dependencies, composite materials must become truly circular.”
