EuCIA and its member Norwegian Circular Materials Technology (NCMT) are organising the webinar Composite Bridges: The Road to Become a Proven Solution for European Infrastructure.

The event will be held on 17 December at 10:00 am CET

A sustainable solution for European infrastructure

This webinar will dive into the potential role of composite materials in modern bridge construction, presenting them as a sustainable and efficient solution for the future of European infrastructure. Hosted by EuCIA and organised by NCMT, this event is designed to share valuable insights and real-world case studies that demonstrate how composites can be successfully implemented in large-scale projects.

By focusing on the processes behind key composite bridge projects, such as the Paradis and Fredrikstad Bridges in Norway, the webinar aims to inspire and equip attendees with the knowledge to engage in similar initiatives. It will also explore the regulatory landscape, including the upcoming composites Eurocode, and offer guidance on overcoming the challenges posed by conservative construction environments.

In addition to gaining a deeper understanding of how to incorporate composites into infrastructure projects, participants will also have the opportunity to connect with potential partners who share a vision for innovation in the building and infrastructure sector.

Who should attend

This webinar is tailored to European national organisations, EuCIA members, and professionals in the composites and construction industries. It is highly relevant for those looking to establish themselves in building and infrastructure projects. It will also give valuable insight to those working to introduce composite materials in new industry sectors and applications.

Attendees will:

  • Learn more about key drivers for selecting composite materials in bridge projects, including lightweight, long lifetime, sustainability benefits and other benefits gained from composite material properties.
  • Gain insights into the decision-making process and novel methods for collaboration between stakeholders.
  • Understand how to navigate European regulations and standards, such as the Eurocode.
  • Discover practical knowledge on how to initiate and manage composite bridge projects, with examples from successful projects in Norway.
  • Network with industry experts and potential partners for future collaborations.

Speakers

The webinar will feature the following presentations.

  • Composites and decision-making: Why composite materials were chosen for different bridge projects, Stian Persson, Module Solutions & Systems;
  • A Composite Engineer’s perspective: Which opportunities can be found within today’s and tomorrow’s regulatory framework, Alf Egil Jensen, FiReCo;
  • From manufacturing to placing products on the market: Introducing composites in a conservative market sector, Claes Olsen, CSUB;
  • Data and collaboration: Introducing the European Composite Bridge Database, Vidar Nyhammer, NCMT.

The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session.
