EuCIA joined its nine partners in the EU-funded EOLIAN project in Cambridge, UK, on 4-5 December. EOLIAN, which commenced in June, is developing a new generation of recyclable wind turbine blades based on vitrimer composites.
The meeting was hosted by Brunel Composites Centre, located at TWI Granta Park. The agenda featured updates on active work packages and discussion on next steps, a tour of the Brunel Composites Centre laboratories, and a networking dinner.
EOLIAN vitrimer composite blades, with an embedded structural health monitoring system to enable fast detection of damage, will offer improvements in lifespan, repair and recycling, helping to advance sustainability and circularity in the wind industry.
In EOLIAN, EuCIA joins partners Proplast (project coordinator), AEP Polymers, Brunel Composites Centre (BCC), Entelea, IRES, Norvento Enerxía, Politecnico di Milano, Tekniker, and Zorlu Energy Group.
EuCIA leads the work package focused on communication, dissemination and exploitation.
