Over recent months, EuCIA has participated in several European events to learn more about the issues driving the composites industries in different regions, and to share EuCIA’s initiatives to promote sustainability and circularity of composites at EU level.
The International Composites Summit in Milton Keynes, UK, this September was co-organised by EuCIA member Composites UK and offered an excellent forum for networking, learning and sharing knowledge. Jaap van der Woude, Chairman of EuCIA’s Sustainability Working Group, gave the presentation European Perspectives on Composites Circularity and welcomed the opportunity to discuss EuCIA’s actions to advance the circularity of composites. EuCIA’s Managing Director, Raphaël Pleynet, moderated the session.

In the first week of October, EuCIA visited the KOMPOZYT-EXPO trade show in Krakow, Poland. This meeting dedicated to composite materials brought together more than 100 exhibitors and 1,800 visitors. Raphaël Pleynet presented EuCIA’s Mission and Actions to Demonstrate Circularity of Composites during the workshop opening the first day of the show.

The Finnish Plastics Industries Federation (FIPIF)’s Composites Seminar 2023 took place on 12-13 October. This year’s event focused on the theme of composites as sustainable solutions. Raphaël Pleynet travelled to Hyvinkää to learn more about Finland’s composites industry and EuCIA member FIPIF’s work, and to present EuCIA’s mission and its active role in promoting composites sustainability and circularity. He also took the opportunity to discuss Finland’s experience in successfully establishing a national system to enable the co-processing of composites waste in cement kilns.
