The first JEC Composites Talks Nordics meeting takes place in Oslo on 4th June 2024. This event is being organised by EuCIA’s partner JEC and our members Norwegian Circular Materials Technology (NCMT), Finnish Plastics Industries Federation (FIPIF) and Plastindustrien of Denmark, together with LIGHTer, a Swedish hub for lightweight technologies.

JEC Composites Talks are invitation-only events. They provide exclusive opportunities to connect with professionals from industry and from the composites applications sectors to foster the development of local as well as international projects. The new Nordics meeting brings together the composites industry, associations and research organisations, authorities and policymakers from Norway, Finland, Denmark and Sweden, with the aim of stimulating knowledge sharing, networking and business opportunities.

EuCIA’s managing director Raphael Pleynet is attending the event, and EuCIA board member Eric Moussiaux will speak about the future Eurocode for composites.

The programme will also feature presentations from Mika Mustakangas, chairman of the FIPIF Composite Group, Vidar Nyhammer, general manager of NCMT, Thomas Dustrup, CEO of the Plastindustrien, and Christian Olsson, vice director of the LIGHTer strategic innovation programme.

A Case Studies session includes talks from Brødrene Aa, Finnester Coatings Oy, and GKN Aerospace Engine Systems Sweden. And presentations from Makeen EnviroTech and the EU-funded REFRESH project will address recycling of wind turbine blades.

REFRESH blade recycling project

REFRESH is developing a circular, smart system to enable improved recycling of glass fibre reinforced composites from use-of-use wind blades. EuCIA is leading the project’s Work Package 7: Dissemination, Communication and Exploitation.

REFRESH has a strong connection with Norway through its partner Gjenkraft, a Norwegian recycler of composite materials. Representatives from Gjenkraft and the REFRESH partners RINA, Acciona and Gees Recycling will also be attending the event.

Following JEC Composites Talks Nordics, EuCIA joins all the REFRESH partners at Gjenkraft’s facility in Høyanger for the project’s third General Assembly. The meeting takes place on 7-8th June. As part of the REFRESH project Gjenkraft will design and deploy an upgrade to its pilot plant to recycle the composite materials from wind turbine blades (learn more).
