EuCIA partners with JEC Group on 2023 Composites Sustainability Report

EuCIA collaborated with JEC Group on the 2023 edition of the Composites Sustainability Report, in which organisations around the world highlight the latest developments in composites sustainability, from materials and manufacturing, to applications and end-of-use.

The report was published in December as a Special Issue of JEC Composites Magazine.

Advancing composites sustainability around the world

This year, for the first time, EuCIA partnered with JEC Group to highlight the advances the composites industry in Europe is making to reduce environmental impacts and enable sustainable growth in numerous markets. This collaboration is the first initiative realised following the signing of a three-year agreement with JEC Group, publisher of JEC Composites Magazine and organiser of the leading international composites show JEC World, to jointly promote the benefits of composite materials and their role in realising a net-zero future.

The 2023 Composites Sustainability Report starts with EuCIA’s article Circularity of composites: the way forward, which presents the European perspective on composites circularity. It discusses the circular economy model and what this means for composite materials, and outlines some of the challenges which need to be addressed to enable the full circularity of composites. In the following four sections of the report – Conception & Raw Materials, Production & Waste, Recovery & Recycling, and Applications – EuCIA members Agoria, Assocompositi, CompositesNL, Composites Germany, Composites UK, EPTA, Finnish Plastics Industries Federation (FIPIF), Norwegian Circular Materials Technology (NCMT), Polyvia, and the Turkish Composites Manufacturers Association – contributed articles about sustainability initiatives in their regions.

The report also showcases sustainability initiatives in North America and Asia-Pacific with contributions from the American Composites Industry Association (ACMA), the Composites Association of New Zealand, and other organisations.

Next year, EuCIA will partner with JEC Group on the 2024 edition of the report.
