Throughout June, EuCIA has been busy promoting the objectives of the European Circular Composites Alliance (ECCA) and encouraging key industry players to become members.
EuCIA’s managing director Raphaël Pleynet visited the Paris Air Show on 18 June.

Decarbonisation was a key theme of the event, and composite materials are essential to meet emissions reduction targets. Composites help to reduce aircraft weight and fuel consumption, and they also offer improved aerodynamics and reduced maintenance. The new electric aircraft designs being developed also rely on composites to meet weight, safety and performance requirements.
Circularity is also critical for the future of the aerospace industry. The goals of the ECCA to develop sustainable recycling solutions for end-of-use composite parts and to create markets for recycled composites align with the aerospace industry’s drive for circularity. The ECCA will offer those involved in the aerospace composites value chain an opportunity to connect with stakeholders in other markets and collaborate on new circular solutions of benefit to all.
EuCIA was proud to be an official partner of the JEC Forum Italy, which took place on 11-12 June.
Organised by JEC in collaboration with Assocompositi, a EuCIA member, the event brought together key players from Italy’s composites community.
The programme featured supplier workshops and conferences focusing on composite technologies, transport sector innovation, and sustainability and circularity. During the sustainability session, Professor Roberto Frassine, President of both Assocompositi and EuCIA, presented European initiatives promoting composites circularity.
On 17 June, Raphaël Pleynet participated in the Global Composites Sustainability Coalition (GCSC) meeting, organised by the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA). On this occasion, he presented ECCA, outlining its mission, key objectives, and the challenges it aims to address.
