The European Rebar Council (ERC), a Sectorial Alliance of EuCIA, has officially launched its new website: europeanrebarcouncil.eu
The platform strengthens the Council’s mission to position composite (glass fibre reinforced polymer/GFRP) rebar as a durable, sustainable, and high-performance alternative to traditional steel reinforcement across Europe’s construction and infrastructure sectors.
The website showcases the proven advantages of composite rebar, including corrosion resistance, extended service life, lightweight handling, and reduced lifecycle carbon impact. It also highlights major reference projects demonstrating global confidence in the technology.
Dr. Chris Skinner, Chairman of the European Rebar Council, commented: “This website continues the journey of the ERC to make composite rebar a common and widely available solution for the European construction and infrastructure industry. By providing clear guidance on performance, standards, and real-world use cases, we are helping to accelerate confidence, adoption, and long-term impact across the market.”
Professor Roberto Frassine, President of EuCIA, added: “ERC marks a new milestone to ensure the healthy growth and continued competitiveness of composites manufacturing companies across Europe. The construction and infrastructure sector is one of the fastest growing sectors and the contribution of ERC’s technical and design expertise will ensure the solid and balanced development of these applications.”
Following its Kick-Off Meeting in Brussels in 2025, the ERC has established four active working groups focused on standards and certification, market development, sustainability and circularity, and public policy advocacy – ensuring the industry speaks with one coordinated European voice.
