This year’s boot Düsseldorf trade show once again provided a valuable opportunity for EuCIA to connect with partners and colleagues working to accelerate the composites industry’s transition to a circular economy.
The blue innovation dock programme, co-organised by EuCIA partner European Boating Industry (EBI), provided a platform to highlight the latest advances in composites circularity and present the European Circular Composites Alliance (ECCA) to stakeholders in the boating sector.
EuCIA’s managing director Raphaël Pleynet presented an introduction to the ECCA, its objectives and plans for 2026, during the session Innovation Spotlight: Breakthroughs in recycling solutions on 22nd January. Also featuring speakers from the Technical University of Denmark, Politecnico di Milano, and Geocycle Europe, the presentations focused on emerging recycling technologies for composites and other materials used in boating. Recent breakthroughs, practical applications, and the potential to scale solutions across the sector were discussed.
The session was followed by the panel discussion From Waste to Resource: New Approaches in Composite Recycling which explored ways of turning composites waste into a valuable resource. Topics included new recycling pathways, industrial collaboration, and the importance of cross-sector innovation in supporting more circular material flows.
The ECCA, a sectorial alliance of EuCIA, is working to drive circularity of composites across Europe. For further information about the alliance, and how to join us, visit ECCA – EuCIA.
