EuCIA is organising the Closing Event of REFRESH, the EU-funded project developing sustainable repurposing and recycling solutions for decommissioned wind turbine blades.
Shaping the future of blade circularity – Insights and impact from the REFRESH project –takes place on 2 December at the L42 Business Centre in Brussels. Participants can also join online. Registration is now open.
The event takes place the day before the 2nd General Assembly of the European Circular Composites Alliance (a sectorial alliance of EuCIA) at The SQUARE in Brussels, providing an ideal opportunity for ECCA members to learn about the latest advances towards blade circularity.

Scaling up circular solutions for retired blades
REFRESH is supporting the sustainable growth of Europe’s wind energy industry by developing innovative strategies and technologies to advance wind turbine blade circularity. Over the past 4 years, REFRESH has been optimising and scaling up sustainable repurposing and recycling solutions, covering the whole value chain from end-of-life blades to new products. Comprehensive LCA and LCC analyses and a novel blockchain traceability platform support the project’s approach.
EuCIA is the project’s communication and dissemination leader, collaborating with 10 partners from across Europe: ACCIONA (Spain), CETMA (Italy), CIRCE (Spain), Enecolab Srl (Italy), ETAT9 (France), MTB (France), Gees Recycling (Italy), Gjenkraft AS (Norway), RINA (project coordinator, Italy), and TECNALIA (Spain).
Programme
During the Closing Event, the REFRESH project partners will present their achievements and discuss the exploitation potential of the technologies developed.
Presentations will focus on:
- Blade preparation for repurposing & recycling;
- Blade recycling technologies;
- New products from recycled materials;
- Traceability & sustainability.
A panel discussion, End-of-life as a value stream: how do we convert REFRESH research into market impact?, will explore the next steps to exploiting the project’s results.
The event is free to attend. The full programme will be published soon.
