EuCIA joined the global composites community in Paris on 4-6 March for JEC World 2025.
This year we were delighted to join the industry in celebrating the 60th anniversary of this leading event in the composites calendar. JEC World provides EuCIA and our members with a unique opportunity to present our latest initiatives, and to network, exchange knowledge and deepen collaborations.
2025 was also a milestone year for EuCIA as we launched the European Circular Composites Alliance (ECCA) in partnership with JEC. This collaboration is dedicated to establishing a circular economy for composites in Europe and was officially announced on March 4th during a special session entitled The Clean Industrial Deal: An Opportunity for our Composites Industry.
We were so appreciative to receive such a positive and enthusiastic response to this initiative. We thank everyone who has already signed the ECCA Letter of Intent for your support.
During the week, EuCIA’s President Roberto Frassine and Managing Director Raphael Pleynet participated in numerous meetings and forums to present EuCIA’s circularity roadmap and discuss the new Alliance. We were also pleased to be able to support our partners in the REFRESH project with their participation in the new JEC World Research & Innovation Projects programme.
Global associations discuss circularity
The 7th gathering of global associations in the composites industry on 5th March was organised by JEC and EuCIA, with the support of ACMA. This meeting attracted an audience from Europe, the USA, Asia and South America, showing that circularity is an important driver for the composites industry around the world.
The event provided a forum to learn about different circularity initiatives, including real-world examples from the automotive, wind, and marine sectors, and covering both glass and carbon reinforced composites. These demonstrate the industry’s dynamic efforts to develop innovative solutions for repair, reuse, repurposing and recycling.
We thank all our speakers for these inspiring presentations and confirming the need for this annual exchange of views.
EuCIA’s General Assembly
JEC World always provides an opportunity for an in-person meeting with all our members.
This year’s General Assembly on 6th March featured a welcome from Eric PierreJean, CEO of JEC. He emphasised the importance of the EuCIA and JEC partnership for the development of composites industry. He also expressed his support for the ECCA launched earlier in the week.
We were also honored to welcome Philip Easthill, Secretary General of EBI, the association for the European boating industry. Our two associations have enjoyed a long cooperation and we are currently working together in an initiative to promote sustainable solutions for end-of-life boats.
EBI signed the ECCA letter of Intent and confirmed our shared vision of how to achieve circularity of composite materials.
The meeting also offered an opportunity to listen to representatives of countries wishing to join EuCIA, and their expectations of this collaboration. We are confident that these discussions will lead to a positive result in the coming months.
